Why I Decided To Take A Social Media Break

Social Media Detox

I was VIBRATING, that’s how mad I was 🙁

One morning I woke up to an email that told me my password had been changed on my Instagram account and that was the start of three days of me being an ANGRY CHICKEN. If you have ever been kicked out of Instagram you know what I mean when I say it can be quite painful to get back into your account.

As someone using Instagram to try to build an audience for my coaching business – and to highlight some of my personal life – getting the boot was frustrating. At a certain point in those three days I started thinking….

THIS IS NOT HEALTHY

Why am I so upset about a social media kicking me out? Does this stuff even really matter? Don’t even get me started on my obsession with the number of followers I had. And why did this person not put a heart on my post?? Did it not resonate with them? Bat shit crazy is how it can make you feel.

So I wanted a break.

Social media has it’s own energy that can be all consuming. I have some big projects that I am working on and don’t want to be distracted while I am getting them completed. Will I go back to social media? I’m sure I will but it may be in a different capacity. I’ve been thinking of focusing on 1-2 platforms and THAT’S IT. If people want to see what I’m up to they will have to find me there. I’m over trying to be everywhere for everyone because in all reality, that is my ego saying they are actually looking for me in the first place.

Until I figure out my “social media strategy” – you can find me here as I have made it a goal of mine to post more on this blog. Because I love writing and why not do it here right!

If you’d like to hear more about why I am taking this break you can hear all about it on my podcast “Hard Beautiful Journey”, episode 57. Listen HERE!
